This policy explains what information is collected when you use Parkrun Maps (parkrunmaps.com), how it is used, and the choices you have. Parkrun Maps is an independent, non-commercial project; we collect as little personal information as possible.

Information we do not collect

Parkrun Maps has no user accounts, no login, and no forms that submit data directly to this site. We never ask for your name, email address or any other personal details in order to browse the site.

Location data

The "Flattest parkruns near me" tool asks your browser for your current location so it can rank nearby courses. Your browser will always ask for your permission first. Your location is processed entirely in your browser to sort the results — it is never sent to or stored on our servers.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to understand how the site is used — for example, which pages are popular and where visitors come from. These tools collect aggregated information such as pages viewed, approximate location (country or city level), device type and browser. This data is not used to personally identify you. Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to display advertising, which helps cover the cost of running the site. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Third-party links

The site links to external services, including official parkrun event pages, Google Maps, What3Words, Strava and a Google Form for contributing course data. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

Data submitted by contributors

If you choose to contribute course data through our Google Form, the information you provide (such as a GPS file and any contact details you include) is used only to add course data to the site and to follow up about your submission if needed. Contributed course data is published in anonymised, aggregated form — personal details are never published.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the tools the site uses change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
